Got Questions?
What is the Free First Exam
The Free First Exam is an introductory wellness visit that gives you and your cat or dog a chance to meet our veterinarians and team. It covers the cost of the physical exam only.
The offer is available to new clients at participating VCA Canada primary care hospitals, including our three Burlington-area locations, and is valid for up to two pets – cats or dogs only – per household. Pet parents must be 18 or older.
Anything beyond the exam itself – diagnostics, treatments, vaccines or medications – is billed separately, and we’ll give you a written estimate before proceeding.
Who is eligible for the Free First Exam?
The Free First Exam is for cats and dogs only and available to new clients at participating VCA Canada primary care hospitals.
It’s valid for up to two pets per household, and those pets must be cats or dogs. Pet parents must be 18 or older, and appointments must be booked in advance.
The offer can’t be combined with any other offer. Full terms are set out on your certificate.
What should I expect during my Free First Exam?
One of our veterinarians will carry out a physical examination, review your pet’s history, and discuss preventive care recommendations. We’ll check your pet’s weight, teeth, skin, ears, eyes, heart and general condition.
Bring any previous medical records along with any questions about diet, behavior, or vaccinations.
If we recommend vaccines, lab work or medication, those are billed separately from the free exam and we’ll give you a written estimate before going ahead.
Can I use the Free First Exam for a sick or injured pet?
No. The Free First Exam is an introductory wellness visit, and it does not cover emergency, urgent care or specialty medical services.
If your pet is unwell or injured, please call us – we’ll make sure they’re seen and cared for. That consultation, and any diagnostics or treatment it involves, is billed separately and isn’t eligible for the free exam.
